This relates to the assessment and treatment of people with disorders of or injury to muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, peripheral nerves and fascia.
This term relates to the assessment and treatment of people with disorders of or injury to muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, peripheral nerves and fascia.
This includes acute (recent) or chronic (longstanding) injuries, such as back or neck pain, disc problems, sciatica, whiplash, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries, jaw/TMJ pain, arthritis and fractures.
Treatment is aimed at reducing pain, correcting alignment, improving movement patterns, strength and performance, as well as avoiding the complications and reoccurrence of injuries.
During the first session, we will talk to you about the history of your symptoms, your medical history and anything else that might be relevant. We will also talk to you about what you would like to achieve from Physiotherapy. Whatever this is, we will work with you by setting goals together and agreeing a treatment plan.
We will also assess your pain levels, posture, range of movement and strength and ascertain the likely cause of your symptoms (for example, if you have neck pain, this could be caused by tightness in your foot).
